Prep Guide In-Studio Quick Headshot Event

Thank you again for signing up for headshots. I am beyond excited to be your photographer!  Your photos will be taken from the torso up, with the ability to be cropped to chest/shoulders up. ***Arrive 15-minutes early*** to allow enough time to get changed and be "in the wings" ready to go for your 10-minutes session.

SEVEN Helpful Tips for Success:

1)  ***Practice your Squinch in a mirror!*** Yes, that's really a thing!

2)  Wardrobe Guidance:
The camera loves form-fitting clothes over loose and flowing, not skin tight but fitted.
Solids work best.
Choose an outfit that will reflect how you want to be represented.
Do you want to wear a dress or blouse?
Do you want to be business-professional with a jacket, shirt and tie?
Do you want to be casual?
It's best to avoid: busy patterns, bright neon colors, logos, and large graphic patterns (unless they are on-brand for your company.)

***Please be sure your outfit is clean, ironed, lint free, and on a hanger.  IMPORTANT: TRAVEL WITH YOUR CLOTHES ON A HANGER TO AVOID SEAT BELT MARKS***

3)  Hair cuts and shaves.

4)  Make-up and jewelry:

To AVOID the "shiny/greasy look":
* Avoid moisturizer that includes SPF as the SPF can cast an unwanted shine from the studio lights.
* Choose makeup with a matte-finish. Pro grade makeup for on-camera is recommended.
* Add a LIGHT CONCEALER  with a brush under eyes, down center of nose, center of chin, and center of forehead. Blend with a sponge.
* Finish with TRANSLUCENT POWDER, tap with a small brush along the T-zone and sides of nose.

If you choose to hire a hair and make-up artist please request pro grade makeup for on-camera.

Wear jewelry that compliments. Does your jewelry need to be cleaned and shined?

5)  Stay hydrated as it helps with skin tone.

6)  Get a good night's sleep the night before.

7)  ***Arrive 15-minutes early*** to allow enough time to get changed and be "in the wings" ready to go for your 10-minutes session.

I am so excited to take your headshots. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
Warmly,
Jennifer
